Spark Power Acquires Ascent Solutions’ Tillsonburg and Belleville Operations And Re-Launches Historic Tiltran and Tal Trees Brands
Jason Sparaga, Co-CEO of Spark Power, announced Friday, completion of the acquisition of the Tillsonburg and Belleville business operations from Ascent Solutions Inc., a transaction first announced in March 2016.
“These businesses fit well into our growth plan and their respective operating theatres make geographic sense, but the real fit is cultural,” said Sparaga. “The technician teams are world class and we’re delighted to bring them aboard.”
“We look forward to expanding operations and developing other services for customers from these new beachheads,” he added.
Sparaga also announced the decision to re-launch two historic operating brands under which the business units operated before being acquired by Ascent. These include; Tiltran Power Services Corp. (Tillsonburg) and Tal Trees Power Services Corp. (Belleville). Both will operate as members of the Spark Power Group of Companies but function as autonomous, highly integrated operating teams.
“From the onset we found a reputation and legacy for excellence and brand equity in both the Tiltran and Tal Trees names,” said Sparaga. “This was a driving factor in our decision to pursue these assets, and was quickly validated through conversations with employees, customers and suppliers.”
“We felt that going back to the old brands as members of ‘the Spark Power Group’ was the right way to integrate the legacy and history of the businesses with our culture of innovation, growth and commitment to service.” he added.
Both Tiltran and Tal Trees specialize in constructing and maintaining medium to high voltage substations and power lines, engineering services and equipment sales and offer 24/7 emergency response. The combined businesses include 53 employees based in the two locations.
The acquisitions are part of Spark Power’s strategic consolidation of the Canadian power and energy services market. In 2012 Spark acquired renewable energy operations and maintenance specialist, Northwind Solutions, followed in 2014 with the purchase of high voltage services experts Rondar Inc. and power engineering services firm, Pelikan Engineering earlier this year.
Ascent Solutions Inc. will continue to be owned and operated by St. Thomas Energy, a Local Distribution Company owned by the City of St. Thomas. Sparaga stressed that St. Thomas Energy customers will not see any changes in service related to this acquisition.
